12 Best Restaurants in Metairie, LA [2023 Updated]

The abundance of restaurants in Metairie makes selecting the best an extreme challenge, even if you limit the list by type of cuisine or location. Dividing by preparation methods still leaves the list substantially long. So to truly experience the culinary diversity Metairie has to offer, spend at least a week there.

Sampling the best restaurants in Metairie requires a curious palate and a willingness to enjoy each category in its own right.

Examine menus online to ensure that dishes meet your dietary needs, and call ahead if you need special accommodations. However, practice patience and kindness with the wait staff if they cannot fulfill your requests.

Dab’s Bistro in Metairie provides fine dining, including a six-course wine dinner. However, for gluten-free fare, Chef Duke LoCicero recommends ordering Dab’s short ribs or any of the fish dishes and requesting to hold the sauce.

The salads and flatbreads, unfortunately, are not vegan. Also, since the salads get prepared ahead of time, Chef Duke cannot hold the cheese, bacon, and other ingredients for same-day dinners or large parties.

However, by making your reservation a few days in advance and stating your food allergies or other restrictions, Chef Duke has more flexibility. In addition, he is very accessible and willing to discuss adaptations, including how to order dishes to accommodate special dietary needs.
